Mr. Børge Brende, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Norway, visited the Arctic Council Secretariat on Friday, 4th April 2014. Magnús Jóhannesson, Director of the Arctic Council Secretariat, spoke with the Minister about the work of the Arctic Council Secretariat, the ongoing work in the Arctic Council and the outcomes of the meeting of Senior Arctic Officials in Yellowknife.

The Minister showed a keen interest in Arctic issues and underlined the high priority that the Government of Norway places on the work of the Arctic Council.

Speaking of the meeting, the Minister said:

“The Arctic Council is the premier forum for cooperation in the Arctic, and Norway is working to strengthen this cooperation. I am so glad to have had the opportunity to visit the Secretariat while I was in Tromsø today. Having the Arctic Council Secretariat here is an expression of the important role that Tromsø plays as a knowledge center in the Arctic.”
