Monday 22 August 2011 Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lene Espersen, the Prime Minister of the Faroe Islands, Kaj Leo Johannesen, and Premier for the Government of Greenland, Kuupik Kleist, presented Denmark's strategy for the Arctic from 2011 to 2020. It has been elaborated by Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands.

Minister Lene Espersen says:

"I am delighted that Denmark has developed an Arctic Strategy 2011-2020 in a good and constructive cooperation with Greenland and the Faroe Islands for the Kingdom of Denmark. A strategy is needed in a time with great changes in the Arctic. Not least because of climate change and ice that melts. We are facing new challenges but also new opportunities and we want to strengthen our common commitment to the development in the Arctic.
