During the Kiruna Ministerial Meeting 15 May Arctic Ministers signed the Kiruna Declaration, Vision for the Arctic, Senior Arctic Officials Report to Ministers, and an Agreement on Cooperation on Marine Oil Pollution Preparedness and Response in the Arctic. In addition, several scientific assessments and reports by the working groups, task forces, and expert groups of the Arctic Council were also approved.

Canadian Chairmanship Program 2013-2015

The Kiruna Ministerial Meeting 15 May marked the end of the Swedish chairmanship and the beginning of the Canadian chairmanship May 2013-May 2015. Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs Carl Bildt handed over the gavel to Canadian Minister for the Arctic Council Leona Aglukkaq at the closing of the meeting today. Aglukkaq briefly outlined Canada's chairmanship priorities in a statement during the meeting.
